Topkapi Palace tickets: your questions

No. The palace is closed on Tuesdays. On the other days it generally opens around 09:00 and closes around 18:00, though the box office shuts earlier, roughly 17:00 in winter and 17:30 in summer, and last admission is about 30 minutes before closing. Hours shift with the season, so the official Topkapı Palace Museum site is the source of truth for the day you go.

Budget 2 to 3 hours for the palace itself and its courtyards, treasury and pavilions. Add the Harem and you are looking at 3 to 4 hours or more. If you want to see it without shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, aim for an early weekday morning, and travel in spring or autumn rather than the peak summer weeks.

Early on a weekday, right around opening from 09:00 to 10:30, is the calmest window. April to May and September to October are the easier months. Midday in high summer is the busiest, and the security queue at the gate is longest then.
